An industrial loft reimagined for modern living — blending raw textures with refined simplicity.
This project celebrates contrast, scale, and the beauty of honest materials.
Project Overview
Location: New York City, USA
Type: Residential Loft Conversion
Size: 180 m²
Completed: 2024
Design Lead: Elvora Interiors
The Story
The client, a photographer and art collector, wanted to transform a former warehouse loft into a minimal yet expressive living space — one that honors the building’s industrial history while creating serenity in the heart of Manhattan.
The Concept
We preserved the loft’s architectural integrity — exposed brick, original beams, and high ceilings — and balanced them with refined, contemporary forms.
A monochromatic palette of charcoal, limestone, and soft gray provides calm amid the city’s energy.
Every object was curated with intention: sculptural furniture, layered textiles, and custom lighting that highlights art and texture.
The design embraces duality — raw and refined, industrial and intimate.
The Process
We worked with structural engineers to open the layout and bring in natural light.
Glass partitions were added to define spaces without interrupting flow.
All cabinetry and fixtures were designed bespoke to hide visual clutter and preserve architectural purity.
Throughout the process, collaboration between our studio and local artisans ensured craftsmanship that matches the loft’s character.
Materials & Details
Exposed brick, natural stone, dark oak, steel, linen, and handmade ceramics.
The palette emphasizes authenticity — materials that feel grounded and honest.
The Result
A sculptural yet livable space where art, light, and architecture coexist in quiet balance.
The loft feels deeply personal — a reflection of the owner’s creative spirit and Elvora’s philosophy of functional beauty.

Client Words
“Elvora saw the poetry in the rawness of this space — now it feels like a gallery I can live in.”
— Daniel R., Photographer
Reflection
Designing in New York reminded us that calm can exist anywhere — even in the pulse of a restless city.
It’s not about removing energy, but refining it into focus and flow.
